CM Majhi launches 'CM-Aspire' to boost youth employability, aiming to make Odisha a skilled manpower hub with new skill centers and programs.
Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing the employability of Odisha’s youth. Dubbed 'CM-Aspire', this scheme marks the first major innovative effort of Majhi’s administration to transform the state into a hub of skilled human resources.
The announcement was made during the World Youth Skills Day celebration at the World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the government's commitment to establishing Odisha as a center of excellence for skilled manpower. “Our government is dedicated to converting Odisha into a skilled human resource hub,” Majhi declared.
A Comprehensive Roadmap for Skill Development
The 'CM-Aspire' scheme is designed to create a robust framework for skill development, benefiting the youth and ensuring they are well-prepared for the job market. Majhi outlined a strategic roadmap that prioritizes qualitative improvements in vocational education and skill development. “Skill development and vocational education are our government’s top priorities,” he stated.
As part of this initiative, several programs have been launched on Independence Day. A significant milestone is the inauguration of the first skill building dedicated to training in the hospitality sector, alongside the establishment of nine additional skill centers. These facilities will provide comprehensive training opportunities, equipping youth with essential skills in hospitality and allied sectors.
Driving Economic Growth Through Skilled Workforce
Majhi stressed the importance of these centers in meeting the demands of a burgeoning tourism industry, positioning Odisha as a key player in this sector. “These skill centers will be capable of fulfilling the demand for skilled manpower, helping to establish Odisha as a tourism hub,” he noted.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the critical need for high-quality skills to make the youth employable. The 'CM-Aspire' initiative is central to this effort, focusing on equipping young people with the necessary competencies to thrive in the job market.
Strategic Programs for Holistic Development
Majhi revealed plans to implement a series of programs aimed at enhancing skill levels in line with industry requirements. These include strengthening the model career centers established by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, fostering innovation and research, and providing opportunities for higher vocational education at premier international institutions.
“The demand for skilled human resources is growing rapidly due to increasing investment in foundational sectors,” Majhi explained. “In the coming days, this need will become even more pronounced. Hence, we will establish around ten Vishwakarma Centers to impart advanced skills to youth in the construction sector.”
Localized Skill Development and Employment Opportunities
The decentralization of skill development programs is another critical component of the 'CM-Aspire' initiative. The government plans to open 'New Odisha District Skill Centers' at the district level to cater to local employment needs and industry demands. “Our government is focusing on empowering districts to enhance local skills,” Majhi affirmed.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced the launch of the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Fellowship. This fellowship aims to support district administrations in their skill development efforts, with Chief Minister’s Skill Development Fellows playing a pivotal role.
Majhi concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to creating a skilled workforce that will drive Odisha’s economic growth and ensure sustainable development. The 'CM-Aspire' initiative, with its comprehensive and strategic approach, is set to pave the way for a prosperous future for the state’s youth.
