Three women from Chhattisgarh were arrested in Bhubaneswar for robbing bus passengers. Authorities seized ₹23,000 and are investigating further.


Bhubaneswar, Odisha : In a significant breakthrough, the Nayapalli Police have apprehended a female gang involved in a series of bus robberies in Bhubaneswar. The three women, identified as Chhaya Patra, Lata Sende, and Ujjala Patri, hailing from Chhattisgarh, were arrested following a detailed investigation. Authorities seized ₹23,000 from their possession during their arrest.

Victim Reports Theft of ₹25,000

The arrest came after Ashrit Maharana, a resident of the region, lodged a complaint on the 27th of the month. Maharana reported that he had fallen victim to a theft on a bus, where ₹25,000 was stolen. According to the complaint, Maharana was surrounded by several women while traveling. As he disembarked from the bus, the women, using their skills and deception, managed to steal the money from his bag.

Organized Gang Targeting Bus Passengers Exposed

The Nayapalli Police initiated an investigation based on the complaint. During their probe, they discovered that the accused women were part of an organized gang operating outside the state. This gang, which operates in groups, targets bus passengers, stealing their valuables including mobile phones and money, before making a swift escape.

The arrested women have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crimes during police interrogation. The Nayapalli Police are also delving deeper into their criminal history to uncover any previous cases involving these individuals.
