India successfully tested an interceptor missile from Abdul Kalam Island, hitting a target 230 km away, boosting national defense.
Chandipur, Odisha : In a significant boost to India's defense capabilities, a successful test of an interceptor missile was carried out today from Abdul Kalam Island, located in Chandipur. The missile test was conducted in the late afternoon at 4:25 PM, marking a critical milestone in the country's missile defense program.
The test commenced with the launch of a Prithvi-II missile from the Number 3 launch pad at Chandipur. Shortly thereafter, the interceptor missile was launched as part of the practical testing phase.
The interceptor missile demonstrated its effectiveness by successfully targeting and neutralizing a mock threat. Capable of engaging targets up to 230 kilometers away, this missile system proved its precision and reliability. Reports confirm that the interceptor achieved a direct hit on its designated target, underscoring its operational effectiveness.
This missile system is designed to counter threats at the borders with high efficiency. It features a range between 150 and 500 kilometers and can reach speeds of up to 1200 kilometers per hour under normal conditions. In more challenging environments, its speed can escalate to approximately 2000 kilometers per hour.
The successful test reinforces India's commitment to enhancing its defense mechanisms and maintaining strategic readiness. The interceptor missile's ability to effectively neutralize incoming threats is expected to significantly bolster national security and provide a robust shield against potential aerial attacks.
